Unlike Italians, the Faroese are likely to have less pretences regarding food matters...

    Hi Flower,

Yep, not knocking them at all. In fact well impressed by the salt air drying techniques. Would love to try some of the dried fish.

OO, that reminds me, dried catfish for lunch tommorow.:gnthb: Bought it for Christmas but then forgot to take it with me.

If I can shake off these winter blues then i'll try to build another solar drier over the weekend.

Just remember, a whale is not just for Christmas, there should be some left over for new year too.

If you buy Whale meat , always ask them to leave the head on for the cat :D
The song below is also a famous Faroes Island lament - "Whale meat again" !

    Hi Red,

    Heres the main page,

    http://www.faroeislands.com/Default.aspx?pageid=9698

Its suprising how little we know about our neighbours, it would be like you knowing nothing about Canada.

The Faroes are part of the Kingdom of Denmark, as is Greenland. When Denmark was occupied by the Nazis, the Brits moved into The Faroes as a protection force, promising Denmark it would be handed over as soon as the war was over.

Our soldiers built the only Airport on the islands, bit of an engineering feat, as most of the land is near on vertical.

The army trucks we left behind are still being used.
