How sad that the Queens Stalwart The Duke of EDINBURGH, can not be at her side on this very special occasion tomorrow in St Pauls

You would think, and I know it would not be very pleasant, that they could at least fill him with pain killers and fit incontinence pants, just for the three hour job

I feel bloody sorry for her River Pagent, an 86 year old standing for four hours in the cold, she could have sat on the throne provided, only they faced the wrong way, she would have seen Nowt, and certainly not advised on dress for the occasion, yes she was dressed to stand out, but not stand in 10c for four hours, it was a disgrace to expect her to do this, But do this she did
    Respect Ma am

Jack, I was just thinking along similar lines myself.

The queen performed her duty exceptionally well. I was thinking how for her, it is surely nothing to celebrate. By celebrating the anniversary of her coronation, surely she is in a way celebrating the death of her father (which made her become queen). Celebrating 60 years as queen, surely she must also be painfully aware that she isn't going to be celebrating very much at all for very much longer, and on top of all that, her husband is in hospital while its all going on.

The camera zoomed in or her face quite a lot, and she looked stressed, tired and sad, yet she laughed and smiled at all the appropriate moments during Charlie's speech.

She really is a great lady.

I missed the river pageant Sunday , we were having an underwater BBQ , according to reports I didn't miss much. The rock concert last night was incredible , the organisation of it was stunning . For me Elton John stole the show :dbgrtmb: . Has his voice gone a tone lower , or is it me ? Stevie Wonder got silver medal :blue thumb: , I remember him as Little Stevie Wonder when he sang Fingertips in 1963 , apparently Marvin Gaye played the drums on the recording - thank you Wikipedia !

I've had a bladder infection and it's horrible. Then again I'm in my 20's. But My Nan has them quite often and they cause her an even bigger amount of distress. Vomiting, aggressive shaking etc. Wouldn't want to see Prince Philip like that personally.....

I thought Shirley Bassey sang "Diamonds are forever" exquisitely - with the same sensual passion that has been her lifelong hallmark.
And as Charles said, "thank the Lord it stayed dry"!!

Quite agree, Jack, it must have been an absolute trial for Her Madge. The only time I saw her face really light up was when that model warhorse thingy reared up in her honour. They should have planned a horse themed Jubilee - she'd have like that. Mind you, Clueless, I think she may well be celebrating for a while longer, given that the Queen Mum lived to be over a hundred. Hopefully she'll get more indoor gigs in future, however.

We are in a sort of denial in this country, if you ask me. We live on a damp little island with unpredictable weather but we think we can have lovely outdoor parties all the time. I lost count of how many fetes were washed out last month, and now we've had aquatic street parties for the Jubilee. Hope everyone remembered their aqualungs and snorkels. Never fear, however. OH has come up with a brilliant solution. The Duke of Edinburgh is a Greek prince (Germanic really but we'll forget that for a minute). Therefore, from now on, let's hold all outdoor royal events in the picturesque, sunkissed Aegean. We get guaranteed sunshine, the poor old Queen and Duke won't die of exposure and the Greeks get some much-needed tourist revenue. Everybody wins! You know it makes sense.

I think she did fantastically and so did Prince Phillip. He looked as though he was enjoying every minute of it.

I'm sure she was wearing proper thermals under her woolen dress and she did manage to crack a smile :dbgrtmb:

To my mind, Prince Philip's absence shows just how ill he must be; he is a stubborn character, and has stoically supported The Queen through thick and thin - if there was any way possible that he could have been there, he would.

Hopefully, he has a speedy recovery.

:dbgrtmb: Here here..!!! I think they are a wonderful couple & have done fantastically well with the rather punishing at times schedule, but I think she did truly enjoy it all & such a shame about Phillip, but that was a long time standing in that damp awful weather watching the pageant..
I am sure he is very poorly with that complaint as has already been said.. Sooo I wish him well & God Bless them both for many more years..!!!

Whilst watching TV news this morning reporting on The Queen's itinerary for today, I noticed that there was nothing scheduled for 'hospital visiting time' - hope she can fit it in.

I think it was rather silly that they had to stand for four hours at their age, no wonder he is sick!

I'm sure she will at some point - they clearly dote on each other, which is nice to see after all their years together; gives some hope for the rest of us.

I'm not so sure that would be the cause of his illness, although it could well have made matters worse. I reckon that he has been 'cooking' this infection for a few days, and was trying to stave it off so he could be next to The Queen for her big weekend. Years gone by when he was younger and fitter, he may well have managed it too - but this time round it caught up with him.
