I Spend A lot of my time Now I Have Retired, Decorating. As I Have Three Daughters and other (outlaws ):WINK1:.
Today I Was Preparing ,My Sister (outlaw's ) Kitchen and it turned out to be the Worst Wallpaper Stripping job I have ever had in my life:mad:. I started To Use the Wallpaper Steam Stripper, I gave Up After Some Time ,the paper was only coming off in small strips.. I Went Back To The Old System, Hot Soapy Water and totally soaked the walls.!! I was Amazed at the amount of Wallpaper on the Walls ,and they were ALL VINYL COATED:mad:
In Total there were 4 Layers of Vinyl coated paper on the walls. I found some paper, and by the pattern must have been there when the house was built :th_scifD36: so these people just pasted paper on top /on top /on top/on top.. I finished the Wallpaper Stripping tonight ,took the walls right back to the plaster, and the kitchen looks bigger now. my sister in law wants the wall's, Powder Blue , Door lintels, white , doors dark oak to match the Windows and her flooring and kitchen units :rolleyespink:. with a bit of luck i will finish on Friday:dbgrtmb:.

Hope The Next Job Will Be Easier :D

I've found Vinyl is not too bad, you can peel off the plastic bit in one go then soak the paper underneath.

Gloss painted woodchip is the worst.

Still if you have lots of layers it's a tough job music!

Iv'e had all those wallpaper nightmares and as John WK says and in my opinion gloss woodchip has to be the worst. I had to use a spike roller before any water would penetrate.
We are looking for a bungalow to move to and I think for the first time I will be looking for bare walls!!

Best of luck John, hope it all goes well.
