    Hi everyone,

I’ve just logged onto the RHS website to have a look at my care calendar and it’s gone! Looks like they’ve moved it to an App which you have to pay for. Is there another site that provides similar information for free? I do have an RHS membership and can’t see why that service doesn’t come with membership.

    Ed

Sorry Ed. I can see they have upset you, but being so obvious it makes me laugh (I know - bad), but I can just see you jumping - I would too. Worse if you have membership, I use RHS site a lot but from what I've seen if I log on is rubbish (but generally information is great).

@machtucker complain to the RHS and ask for an explanation.

It’s the main section I used. They just want to get lots of money. How is that promoting gardening and beneficial to getting people interested? To get people interested it needs to be accessible to everyone.

          Anyway, rant over.

@flounder , you input a list of all your plants and it gives you a monthly list of jobs.

I had all my plants saved on the RHS website in my free (MyRHS?) account, if you log into the app using your RHS login they are still there under my garden. There are monthly care tips & you can look up or add plants. I subscribed for one month a while ago but haven’t continued, you just can’t access some things if you don’t subscribe.

I dropped my RHS membership some time ago :noidea: but I certainly think you should chase things up about it.

Surely these things are only useful if it ties in with your conditions and location?

I've never seen the point of any of any similar functions because of that. You have to work with your own surroundings/climate etc when it comes to plants.

But for a beginner like me it's useful to trigger research into what I could/should be doing at a particular time and it gives a rough timing of when I should be thinking about pruning something etc... Having all my plants in the the MyRHS database means(t) I could get an ide of what I should be doing to what each month. Very handy for a beginner.

As an RHS member I logged in and found links to a couple of places to download the new app, but there was no reference to cost, just a vague reference in "in app purchases" so @machtucker how much did they want to install/use it.
All of my plants that I added to "My Plants" are still there. I've never looked at the care calendar as these days the weather varies so much from year to year things get done when the conditions are suitable.

I’ve read elsewhere that it’s in the region of £3:99 per month.

That's really disappointing, maybe worth getting hold of them on Twitter, they do tend to respond. At the very least they should have notified they will be making it a subscription/paid feature. So tiring that so many things have become neverending subscriptions. I totally understand how they would like to monetise digital content at some point, but it has to align with their charitable cause.
