Hi - I have never spent much time in the garden. I now have a new found interest. I have started by digging over border and seeing what i have. I have across a couple of things. Don't know if they are weed or flower, what they are etc. Appreciate any help.

    Hi and welcome

    No's 1/2... Solomons Seal ( think it's Polygonatum ???)
No's 3/4/5.... Looks like Cotoneaster to me, a shrub which can take over
No's 6/7.... Beech, a shrub which can be kept quite small, often used as hedging.

Thanks for the info. First one I think has come across from next door. Will google what to do with them in terms of pruning. Thanks.

Agree with Anthony with 1 to 5 but 6 & 7 don't look like Beech to me, looks more like a Cherry.

It could be cherry. There was a cherry tree at the other side of the garden that we had removed last year as it got way too big. Either way - I will keep pruned right back as there is not the space for a tree. Thanks

It will be a sucker coming up from the roots that remain. It will probably keep coming back so you will have to remove them whenever they shoot up.

Hmm, not so sure about Cherry, I'm inclined to agree with Anthony.
