Sorry, @wiseowl I can't see them properly  The trunks seem purple but can't see much of the leaves.

:heehee: We all have those Woo..

Hmm a bit hard to tell.. Yes there are some Pines in there but I cannot tell which kind from the pics and also maybe a few Larch.. Larch lose a lot of their needles in winter and have tiny cones.. A close up of Bark and leaves/branches are usually a good way to tell if you can get some

Oh dear Woo not quite the friendly answer you hoped for, but if it's used as pheasant cover then I think maybe better stay away.. Don't want you arrested as a suspected poacher.! :thud:

There is something about the Larch Tree I love.. Very graceful trees that take on some amazing angles sometimes, but a shallow rooted tree so they do fall over quite often in a strong winds as they become very top heavy with growth and bare trunks often..

Quote, "The Holborough Pheasant Shoot is Kents best kept secret." I wonder why?

Kind of says it all really, what happened to "The right to roam", as long as yoiu cause no damage?

Hello @shiney I am still trying to find out:dunno:

Hello @pete this is as much as I can find out:smile:

In a nutshell, the right to roam is the freedom to walk on open countryside away from any paths. It means being able to walk freely, explore the natural environment and find your own way.
In England and Wales, you can walk in areas that are defined as open access. When you’re out walking, you’ll see the open access sign, meaning you’re free to roam.

There are over 3 million acres of land in England and Wales that are open access, meaning walkers can enjoy these areas on foot unhindered. On open access land you don’t have to stick to any footpaths, trails or other rights of way; you can walk wherever you want.

                        Find open access places
The simplest way to find open access land is to get hold of a map. All Ordnance SurveyExplorer maps show access land in yellow wash.

The first thing you’ll notice is that there’s a mixture of large and small patches all over England and Wales. Particularly large areas include parts of the Peak District, the Pennines, Yorkshire Dales, Pembrokeshire, Exmoor to name a few.

You can also view Natural England’s Access Maps, where you can also find out about any temporarily closures, for example to protect ground nesting birds.

What type of land is included?
Most mountain, moor, heath, down and common land in England and Wales is open access.

Mountain is land over 600m/1,969ft above sea level and other upland areas of rough, steep land with crags, scree, bare rock and associated vegetation.

Moor is unenclosed areas of semi-natural vegetation, including bog, rough acid grassland and calcareous grassland.

Heath is unenclosed areas of nutrient-poor soils that support acid-loving plants such as heather, gorse, bilberry and bracken.

Down is semi-natural, unimproved grasslands in chalk or limestone areas, perhaps also supporting scattered scrub.

Common land is land registered as common under the Commons Registration Act 1965.

Since being introduced it has also been extended to include most woodland managed by the Forestry Commission and National Nature Reserves managed by Natural England.

We had a few duck shoots out back, duck hits roof and land by back door, pellets hitting house/windows lots of times and someone shoot towards us when on footpath at the start of a shoot, we spoke to the wife of the land owener and they haven't been back since :yay:

@wiseowl you can find out from the local authority who is the local access authority (usually the same people) and whether you have the right to roam on that land. The land you showed us is Crookham Wood :blue thumb:. You would need to check whether the Wood is 'Excepted land'.

I didn't realise, stupidly, that the right to roam, only applied to those places where the landowner said it was OK.
So basically you have the right to roam, but in effect you dont.
