So i picked the mystery spuds my granda got after thehey started dieing off, no idea though what they are and i imagine they could be one of several, but any help would be great!
I am no help whatsoever but @Steve R could be the man who would know. Am sure he grows an awful lot of different potatoes.
see id have thought that too, maybe my ground but a lot of them but alot of em small, those were the biggest. Just tasted em steamed, the dark red skin is now almost pale and a nic firm texture, mot waxy but not a piper/pink. Also the pipers i have are still going while these are done, arent desiree maincrops?

Cheers steve! haha it has sort of helped as they werent that red when they were seeds, but again the guy he got them off had them in rough shape, some were just not good and others like a scab almost yet nothing on these. the red did come off somewhat when washed and then almost totally gone when cooked. id have said tasted more like a salad/baby potatoe but drier Also thanks for the link to that site! whatre thry like for pistage and quality? do you use them yourself yeah?
Simply put, I doubt you could find better. JBA supply the public direct via their website and they will not post if frost or cold weather is forecast, so it stops your seed potatoes sitting in a freezing sorting office overnight. They also have a trade website and they supply many garden centres and other suppliers too who will bag and sell under their own branding. Their seed potatoes are size graded and yes I and a few others on our allotment site buy them every year, we now collect direct as they are just up the road from us. Steve...
Ill definitely consider em steve as theyve a great selection. Unfortunately im based in NI so postage is always a killer, plus i get pipers or pinks free from commercial growers, but the choice is fantastic!
