The Wipers Times, all the WW1 newspaper editions combined with an introduction by Ian Hislop. Hilarious black humour.

Not me reading - but Audible audio books. Zombie Fallout - book 6 - 'til death us do part. There are 19 books in the series - book 19 being published in March.

Wasn't sure about Audible - but to me it's worth its weight in gold.

You know that 'down' feeling when you finish a good story - you want to know more about how things developed? That's what I like about the 19 book series - same core characters.

Apparently there are also a series of books which link into the Zombie Fallout series - again following the same main character.

I know - this is teenagers stuff - but I enjoy the stories - and in the end that's all that matters really.

Reminds me of the fun books by Donald Jack. The first book in the series is "Three Cheers for Me". All set around the first world war and a Canuck soldier out of his element in England/Europe. Hilarious. This fellow won the Stephen Leacock award for humour. As a small fyi, Leacock wrote many of the stories that Python skits were based on - like the two rich men arguing about who started off the poorest, etc.

I am reading a detective story set on the Rock (Newfoundland). The writer, Barbara Fradkin, gives good descriptions of the locations in her stories without getting too wordy. Rick Steves ala murder mysteries. Sorta.. :)

Go Tell The Bees I Am Gone by Diana Gabaldon.

The most recent release in the nine book 'Outlander' series to date. A long book at over 900 pages - as all the author's books are in this series. History is my favourite genre so I chose the first novel as a lighter read and for its factual content of Scotland. It's a romance ( not my usual choice) set mostly in the 18th century, which tells of the trials and tribulations of Jamie and Claire through the years - Claire having travelled back 200 years in time to Jamie's era. The books take us through the events of Culloden and later the War of Independence - the couple having moved to America. There's quite a bit of detail on how people of the era lived from day to day which Diana has researched well.

I never knew that, thanks Lori. Just been googling, it seems Leacock was also the inspiration for the Goons (Spike Milligan etc). I will look out for their books, browsing second-hand book shops is one of our favourite things.

I've just finished Half Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan. It's a really good read, I wasn't even put off by the dialect which I can find a real turn off when reading.

I wouldn't be so sure about that @CanadianLori. Probably, despite it's title an interesting read.
