        No, not yet Gail. :) I haven't had the chance to go into Inverness (18 miles away) for Waterstones but hopefully will next week. Meanwhile I've been hitting the sales online and off as I'm still furnishing my new home. The Old Fox will have to take a back seat for the time being I'm afraid.

        I've just finished reading the above and it was certainly an eye opener. The author moved to Soay in 1990 and despite the lack of most modern day facilities has managed to make it work being almost self sufficient. A physically and mentally demanding life more akin to living a few centuries ago than now. An easy read if you're interested.

        Back to history now, I'm about to read the first novel in a series. Viking Sword (The Earls of Mercia).

          Your home comes first @Sheal but you'll get what you want in the end on (The old Fox)...I've just read on that book your purchasing and it's similar to The Wolfe (De Wolfe Pack Book 2) he lost his one eye and wore a patch.

          I've just finished The Red Fury (d'Vant Bloodlines Book 2) lovely read and now just started
          The Knight's Scarred Maiden (Mills & Boon Historical) (Lovers and Legends, Book 5)

          We're proper book worms :heehee: :)

            Yes, I'll be back on the Fox's trail when things settle down a bit. :)

            There's nothing better than getting lost in a good book! :thumbsup:

                  I love reading and always have, and I've always got lost into a book where I can see the scenes and characters described entirely in Vista Vision and Technicolour:heehee: So, being disturbed and coming back out of the book is like waking up out of a sleep.:dunno::snorky:

                          :hate-shocked::runforhills::runforhills::runforhills:

                          I used to like Geoffrey Jenkins and his stories, Sci Fi is of course good to read, with authors like Isaac Asimov and his Foundation series, Bernard Cornwell's historical military stories such as Sharpe.....the TV series was brilliant with Sean Bean, Hugh Fraser, Pete Postlethwaite, Daragh O'Malley, John Tams who's singing of the folk songs in the series made me get his CD of his songs. Old [100 - 200 year old] Gardening books that give you a sense of how dangerous were the practices of using chemicals in the garden............

                            I read a lot of sci-fi when I was young and nearly always Isaac Asimov. :) I don't think I would understand it now. Bernard Cornwell is a great writer and never fails with a good read even in a long series of books.
