Just out of interest and because I like films....

    Ok I'll start

Don Jaun - Johnny Depp - Don Jaun DeMarco
Kit Carruthers - Martin Sheen - Badlands
Garret Breedlove - Jack Nicholson - Terms of Endearment

I'm not really a fan of actors or Actresses who find fame because of their good looks but Depp is a seriously good actor and plays the role of a delusionist in DJDM superbly - great film.

Badlands. Tarrantino who scripted 'True Romance' got a few ideas from this film including the haunting musical score. Sheen plays Kit to a tee, his best film by a mile.

Terms of Endearment is a classic but I doubt it would have had the same impact if Garret would have been played by anyone other than Nicholson. He was seriously funny!

    Something to ponder upon :dbgrtmb:

Doug Ireland (Michael J Fox) in For Love or Money (The Concierge)

Red Metcalfe (Ken Stott) in Messiah
Nickie Dryden (Billy Connolly) in The Debt Collector
Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson) in Schindlers List.
Last but not least James Bond (Sean Connery) especially Goldfinger.

:goodpost:Not so much the characters, but I am with you on your choice of actors Gemini - Ken Stott in particular is a fantastic actor in my opinion.

As for my favourite characters, it would have to be

    Number 5 (Johnny 5) - Short Circuit
The wee pet thing from Flight of the Navigator
    Marty McFly (Michael J Fox)

does it show that I was a 70's baby?

I'm not much of a fan of films generally, because most of them seem to follow the same standard template. However, here goes:

Jackie Chan in anything. Especially his earlier films. Martial arts with the emphasis definitely on the 'arts' part. Almost comedy kung fu.

Arnold Schwarznegger in Commando, with the state of the art ammo that magically grows back just because the camera changes angle.

The Fembots in Austin Powers. They were terrifying.

        For me, I love films so there are so many, but I like these;

Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) ~ the first 3 Bourne films.

Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) ~ all the rocky films.

        Dutch (Arnold Schwarznegger) ~ Predator.

How strange, I was typing and my whole post disappeared ... :dunno:

I would like to say the actual films and not the actors because there are very often more than one actor involved in a film that makes it special ... my first one is a testimony to that ...

            1. Shawshank Redemption
            2. Schindlers List
            3. The Perfect Storm

... but then there are ...

            ... Young Frankenstein
            ... The Blues Brothers
            ... Dusk Till Dawn
... One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

... and many, many more ...

I am not a movie watcher, so I am not really much qualified to answer...Anyway I like Gerard Depardieu character in the movie "green card", anthony hopkins all around, michael douglas, harrison ford - actresses: marcia cross (Brie in: desperate housewives), bette midler (in: Beaches), whoopy golberg although I cannot quite digest her face, but I think she is a good actress...
