Just wondering if anyone has planted new bulbs etc this year? anything exciting which you cant wait to come up??
Our garden had no bulbs atall not even a crocus, so i bought a few large sacks of all manor of things to start with some choice ones thrown in.
I cant wait because i must have put in at least 500 or more all over the place, i think i went to town as the last house we had i could not have bulbs as they rotted with the heavey soil, I now have bulb heaven!!

      Hello everyone

I've popped in a few bulbs this year:

      bluebells
      snowdrops
      alliums - big and small
      fritillaria imperialis
      onions
      garlic

looking forward to spring/summer time :yay:
Mind you not sure they will all flower first year, but you never know. At least I do know I'll definitely get to eat the garlic and onions!

The usual mix - daffs, tulips, crocus, snowdrops, stocked up with more alliums as there were only 2 purple sensations left this year, oh, and nectaroscordum bulcaricum - should be good! I'm looking forward to the display.

Well, if I go back to Spring, that seems such a long time ago!, I planted around 400 Snowdrops, in the Green, under the Acer Brilliiantissimum. Later on I planted around 10 Imperial Fritillary in a circle., after that it was 200 to 300 Tulips of as many varieties I could get, followed by 25 Leucojum Gravetye Giants by the pond. Is it me or does anyone else just keep on planting and planting and planting..................:D:heehee:

Black Parrot is one of the better Parrot Tulips.........

Anyway, what I do have new for next year is Muscari (never thought that would happen) Golden Fragrance, basically because it looks a little like a Lachenalia.

Also, Fritillarias imperialis and persica. Looking forward to these for two reasons - they're rather stunning, and my next door neighbour is a rozzer (which could be fun)!

Come the spring, I can pot my Bletilla and Pleione pseudobulbs, and start watering the dormant Hymenocallis and Scadoxus bulbs too.

Moved into new house end of July so waiting to see what comes up in the spring. Half an acre of largely untouched garden, have picked up a lot of info from this site already. Had to plant some bulbs & garden runs along side a main road so took my life in my hands & planted 25kg of daffs along the verge. Plan is to cheer passing motorists ( & me) in the spring!
