I want to make something a bit like a football goal to put over my border. This is to keep cats off (my own). I've tried the garlic smelling stuff, the citrus, pepper dust and lion poo. They ignore them all and merrily scratch it up anyway :( They have a perfectly good litter tray but prefer the garden. I don't have enough room to dedicate an area to them (and who's to say they'd use it if I did!). The only other option is a sonic deterrent, but I don't know if they'd ever come home!? Anyway, back to the goal thing. The frame has to be lightweight, easy to put together and as visually low impact as possible. I'd then cover with netting. Any ideas? Thanks
With two cats here daisybelle I have the same problem and would be keen to find a solution but I'm going to plant shrubs and try for ground cover plants from now on..Good luck!
I have a cat that comes in my garden and uses it as a loo every day. I can't stand cats. Last summer I tried everything to deter this cat. All of the garden centre deterents, sprays, pellets, poo. i also bought a sonic deterent. it worked for 2 days then poo'd right in front of it. the cat poo has ruined parts of my lawn!!! this year i have decided to use prikka strips on the wall between the two gardens. if you own the cat i'm not sure what you would do, i'm surprised the cat doesn't prefer to poo on next door's garden. one thing did work last summer. scardy cat plants (cheap from garden centre), they stopped the cat pooing in my borders, but that's when it started ruining the lawn. They are a very sweet smelling plant which the cat obviously dont like. they are not too pretty, and take about a month of being in situ to work, but once the ;plant gets big enough and starts smelling, it won't go nowhere near it. hope that helped
Ground cover stuff would be good, but I have a lot of perennials that die back in winter that I really like. If I fill the borders with evergreen ground cover, they'll have no space when they do come back. [ 24. March 2008, 03:22 PM: Message edited by: daisybelle ]
