I have just discovered a small (mouse type) hole in the mossy part of my lawn near to the large tree area, but what I have never seen before is the pile of little twig that have been carefully laid over and around the hole. Just wondered if anyone knew of a small animal that does this.

Could be either vole or shrew as we have lots of these plus all species of mice, both inside and outside the house.
Do you know if stoats occasionally come inside as I get droppings in my loft that are more onto the size of cats poo, but we have no cat. Or can you advice what sort of an animal it may be.
I know we have stoats as I put an egg out in a morning for them and they come and give a fine display of acrobats.
