    Hi,
can anyone ID this shrub cutting? I gather it's a Deutzia but there apparently are loads of very different varietes, I'd appreciate to know a bit more about this one:

It's a fairly large shrub, pruned to soft hedge shape and seems to be flowering forever and ever. :)

There are a lot of Deutzias around here but I don't like variegated ones and some have quite wishy washy flowers. This one is lovely so some cuttings found their way into my pocket walking past (it's growing along a small passage so not directly on anyone's garden ).

One stem had flowers which I cut off and rushed to photograph when I realised I need some ID help from this wise forum.

    Thanks!

      I think it's a Weigela too.

Another vote for Weigela "Bristol Ruby" or similar variety

Thanks! I was secretly hoping for a Weigela and with the very long flowering season it indeed fits the bill better.

It's a very nice shrub, we have been walking past it for years :)

Fingers crossed the cuttings will take- thanks again!

I did the same with a huge Philadelphus I walk past on the way to work - it's at the very bottom of someone's garden and encroaching out onto the road. Cut one twig last autumn and now have two nice young plants growing.
