A few weeks ago I sent a card to a friend & as ever I used my fountain pen to write in it. Yesterday I bumped in to her dad, he mentioned my card & thanked me, he then went on with great enthusiasm because I'd used my fountain pen! He wasn't so pleased with my turquoise ink & told me I really should use royal blue! I hadn't realised that using a fountain pen was such a dying trend! For everyday forms/writing & jotting down notes I use a biro or pencil, it's only really personal notes/cards/letters of thanks etc that I use my fountain pen.
So tell me am I really the only person who still uses a fountain pen?

I love to write with my fountain pen, I think it makes things look "special" when at school over 50 years ago, obviously only proper ink pens used, and we had to write in Italics, nothing like that, it was curly and flowing, I do send my cards written in ink, my husband seemed to think it was posh.

Sadly I don't use my fountain pen any more .. but when I did I preferred turquoise ink too Beckie ... sometimes green. :rolleyespink: Now I use a Cross ballpoint pen for proper writing and mechanical pencils for daily notes. I also like fineline permanent ink pens, preferably in green or purple. I like penmanship but computer use has almost ruined it. :frown: I do change my colour print to green for gardening chat and purple for general chat and given options use Comic Sans or Script.

No fountain pens for me, as I'm a lefty. :frown: I did get taught to use them in primary school (late 80s/early 90s lol), though. I loved the way they "felt" while writing, but even stronger is the memory of massive black smudges on the paper/my hands/my clothes/the desk/etc etc etc! :help:

Nowadays I just stick with the "dryer" inked old-faithful of a Biro. :snork:

I used fountain pens at school in the sixties . Osmiroid pen with a left hand italic nib . Nowadays I only use the good old Bic biro £0.15 each - or free from the office . Fountain pens are very fashionable these days for the high flying management types you have to have a Mont Blanc in your inside pocket.

Sad to admit I hardly use any sort of pen these days, maybe a pencil in my notebook down the allotment. The rest of the time it's all electronic.

Good afternoon I am still using the same Quill pen as I did at school went I sat next to Oliver Twist:lunapic 130165696578242 5: sorry ,I do very rarely(although I must stress that I am not very competent with it) use a Blue Goose feather quill pen as Charles Dickens used a present from my daughter in law:smile:i

Its been a long time since I have sent a hand written letter and sadly with the emails/and Office at my fingertips I have got a bit lax,I must start writing again;)

I used to like the green or teal ink in my old fountain pen. That was a long time ago. Had a really nice Cross pen that was borrowed by someone at the pub and passed along - never got it back ...:mute:

I use an Optiflow pen. I do write a lot of thank you notes, cards etc. Guess I'm a little on the old fashioned side...:)

My dad bought me a lovely set of pens when i was a teenager one of which is a fountain pen. i don't use them these days and keep them safe as i'm sentimentally attached to them. These days I'm lucky if i can find a biro anywhere never mind a fountain pen!

I haven't used a fountain pen in a couple of years or so; I do have a good quality Parker pen though, which is a lovely thing to hold and write with - - real quality.

In fact the pocket clip on mine snapped off a few months back, and I emailed Parker asking if it was possible to buy a replacement clip and how would I fit it, only for them to ask to have it in for assessment (which I duly did) and it was subsequently replaced with a brand new one of the exact same type, absolutely free of charge. Fantastic service, and just another reason to buy a decent pen like a Parker.

                              What do you write with?

                              My right hand mostly.
I did try with my toes (once) but never could get the hang of it; I can write (appallingly) with my left hand and it is still legible just untidy.
I have heard of people using their mouth, but that just seems a bit weird to me; use your mouth to talk with and cut out the middle man I say. Although, to be fair, when I was in China, theree was a severely disabled man who was only able to use his mouth to write/draw .. and he was magnificent!

When I was at school I seem to remember Platignum cartridge pens were all the rage, if you had an italic nib, so much the better.

I used to like to use turquoise ink, but used to get it in the neck for it.
they only liked us to use blue, all the other colours were for the teachers.

These days I use a bic biro, but not those ones that are easy to get hold of, I like the yellow fine point ones, great for writing, and even use them for marking out at work.
