I've just filled the three raised beds within our new 12 x 8 greenhouse with a mixture of topsoil and compost. I hope to grow tomatoes and sweet peppers during the coming season but until that time comes, the beds are unproductive. I was interested to know how everyone utilises their greenhouse beds until planting out time comes later on, and what is grown. I had also wondered what other inter-crops could be grown alongside tomatoes and peppers, particularly if there is enough room. Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks
    Seadog

My favourite greenhouse crop are melons at the mo...and Sweetheart my favourite variety, as the name implies really sweet, and they have done really well in the last two summers which have been pretty poor, so im hoping for evn better results if we ever get a half decent season.

Hi Seadog, I grow salad leaves between my toms and cucs - at the moment I've got lambs lettuce, rocket and spinach from last autumn which is providing some fresh pickings. In about 4 weeks I'll plant another batch which will mature before the toms/cucs get planted (in early May).

Oh forget to say that I'll also get some early spuds going in there in containers - probably mid March time, the whole spud container can be moved outside in case they aren't ready before the toms/cucs need planting.
