What is ground fleece?

Well this is the beginners forum but what is ground fleece?

and you will see fleece that is more applicable to the home gardener.
I use it to keep carrot fly off my carrots and cabbage root fly off my radishes. You lay it over the seeedbed and light and rain will get through. It is so light that as the crop grows it will lift up the fleece and grow underneath. It will also keep the crop warmer and can protect from light frost so i also laid some over some early potatoes that were planted extra early .
