What is this beauty?

Our neighbours have this in their garden but don't know what it is. Theirs is about 3 meters tall and almost 5 meters wide. We have a sapling from it which already has buds. We were going to put these 3 branches in a vase in the house but decided otherwise as it doesn't have a particularly nice smell.

Does anyone know what it is, please?

 

I don't know Kedi-Gato, but it does look heavenly. The flowers look something like a Myrtle, but the leaves are all wrong.
I also await to see if someone else can enlighten us.

 

Actually I think I've found it. Sorbaria Sorbifolia. I have a different variety, a varigated small one, and after staring at your picture for a bit it just suddenly clicked.

You are very welcome. The one I have is Sorbaria Sorbifolia 'Sem' in which the foliage colour ranges from deep bronze, pink, yellow and green on the same plant. It is smaller than the species but is already putting up suckers.

That sounds really lovely, but it seems that you will also have to keep the suckers in check. I showed Hubby the place where we could move ours too and (hopefully!) keep it under control. A new raised bed over against a fence where the added height would be welcome, and he thinks so too.

That is beautiful Kedi-Gato, both the foliage and flowers. I'm sure it will be worth putting it into your garden despite the suckering.
