    Hi folks,
Advice needed please. Can anyone identify this stuff growing in what I laughingly refer to as my lawn? If you know how to kill it off, that would be a bonus, but just knowing what it is will give me a start.
    Thanks for any info...
    Cheers,

Thank you Palustris. Looks like I've got a PITA to deal with. Oh well, if I kill half my "lawn" trying to eradicate these horsetails, that'll be a bonus!
    Cheers,
    Phil

BTW, I like your slogan (is that what they're called?), "Never do today things that if put off until tomorrow, you might not have to do at all!" In a similar vein, can I add, "The sooner you fall behind, the longer you've got to catch up!"?

Horsetail is a swine to deal with. I followed a root down when we were digging a sewer pipe. I gave up after 3 metres and the root was still going down.
The leaves have a waxy coating on them, so weed killer does not work unless you physically damage the stems and even then, possible not.
    Sorry.

Dutch hoe type method would this work. Keep chopping off any new growth and hopefully the plant will weaken and die. May be worth a try.
