What is this weed? grrrrr

Hi All,

I have bought my first house, and the garden was a complete nightmare, i've cut the grass back and killed most of the moss, but there is this awful weed that's growing in my grass that is absolutely killing my grass i think!!

Sorry, Andy, it's hard to tell from your photos. Those tangled stems look like the stripped stems of one of the clover family i.e. as if the leaves have died off but the stems remain. This probably happened when you killed the moss.

If they are a form of clover, they're tough and tend to come back. Buy a lawn selective weedkiller and check the instructions to find out how soon you can apply a second dose. It'll probably need two doses.

I use Evergreen Complete granules. Some people prefer the liquid types but granules do it for me.
