I'm guessing its some kind of bee? I've noticed 2 this week just crawling near my back door trying to get in. I put the first one in the grass and all it done was walk about. Don't know where it went but I couldn't find it later.

Today another tried to get in my home so took that one into grass and looks like poor thing has died. I'm guessing same fate happened to other one.

I gave it a mix of a tablespoon water/2 tablespoon sugar and it seemed ok but then went into hiding. Does this mean its dying.

Yeah we have 2 nests. This is the 2nd one this week we've found. I feel so sorry for them.

Hopefully it will be ok Jane it will probably be getting out of the heat and hidden from predators.

....have noticed a lot of Bumble Bees stationary around the flowers/ plants, think they are getting exhausted and taking shade from the hot weather as much as we are !

While there are plenty of Bumbles, so rarely see any Honey Bees ? and thankfully very few wasps.

It came out of shade and was just walking about so left it. Came back out 20 mins later and it was gone. Hope it flew back to nest and not eaten by a bird. Aww just so cute and this is the 2nd this week that tried crawling into my home.

I think it touches our hearts, when we see bees particularly the bumbles in what appears to be trouble. Mostly here in the UK, the Bumble Be, that friendly giant of the bee world always attracts our attention. Such a shame when some folk tend to shudder and squirem when one of these beautiful creatures comes close. Bee very seldom sting. I often find myself untangling these creatures from spiders webs. Believe me it is really great. The bee seems to realise you are helping it. Regarding taking care of a stray or watever. Much the same applies as with chick fallen from their nest etc. Leave them alone. For the bee, A gentle dampening of the close area and perhaps some protection from direct sun, will suffice. Sugar water etc is well meant but, the sugar is processed and refinde and far from the natural nectar gathered from plants. Sadly, yes, despite our well meaning efforts our patient may well not make it. We have to accept the natural laws of nature.

Jane . Rest assured very few bees are eaten by birds in this country. Also as a discount offer. Very few spiders end up in the tummies of birds. For cage bird enthusiasts. Spiders wee can contaminate bird seed and if eaten, your birds will die.
