I need to buy a rake to flatten soil in my garden.
Just wondering what length rake do I need?
I was going to order the best seller on amazon - but that's 90cm long.
    Seems a little short?

    There's another that is 1.2m.

Not sure if my height matters, but I'm 5' 9".

    Thanks.

    Hiya enginestar :)

I am real fussy about garden tools ...quality and length.
I am 6' 1" and like to use long handles tools like rakes, forks, spades and the like.

Just been out to measure my rake and it is 150 cm. yes, 90 cm is pretty short. Could make raking more back breaking than usual:sad:

Could I suggest you visit B & Q or similar to physically see, handle and measure what suits you? Then you can order online with confidence

i've been to b&q. i think they must sell gold plated rakes - starting price was £25.
just looked online, i see prices starting @£12 (with a longer handle).
the one in Lidl was £17 - but that was really long and seemed heavy duty.
now thinking to myself: maybe buy a rake head + broom sticks?

I mean go to B & Q to see the length to suit you enginestar :). Then buy online.

If you handle them instore you find out the weight, length to suit you.

Down here Macsalvors is the place I go to, in preference to B & Q. Cheaper by far.

You may find a rake head and handle separately just as expensive. :noidea:

Just looked on line. Ebay selling rakes 1320 cm at £9 50 post paid. Looks lightweight. Any good?

rake head + 5 broom sticks works out at about £12.
i could use 4 sticks to fight off burglars. or maybe build a wigwam. LOL

Wickes have a good selection of garden tools , price and quality are OK . As above you need to be nearer the 1.5m length of handle , 90cm is very short.

Ha ha, never thought about burglars. Good lateral thinking :)
