what r these weird things then

    They are the fruit of the potato plant. Perfectly normal. But extremely toxic, so if there are kiddies about then I'd pull them off before anyone gets tempted to try them.

    Also, don't keep them for growing next year's tatties, I learned recently off the knowledgeable Ziggy that the spuds they produce may be toxic, as the spuds that result from them may contain toxic levels of some chemical or other.

      They are called potato apples, and are the seedpods of the potato plant. As Clueless says, they are extremely poisonous. However, if you have the patience you can grow spuds from them, which are not poisonous.:D Much easier to use seed potatoes.:cool::D:dbgrtmb:
