A few weeks ago I finally separated some small orchids from their parent plants and potted them up. I noticed a few days later a very chewed leaf on one and yesterday I discovered the culprit chewing another leaf and 3 new flower spikes. It was my ancient Tatty cat, aged 20.
She has never shown the least interest in orchids before and is not short of greens as she goes outside every day. She looks quite healthy today which is more than I can say for the orchids! :(

I was hoping the flower spikes might be out in time for Christmas. I'll just have to move them out of her reach, I suppose!

:D :D :D You've had enough shocks for one day. Hope you had time to celebrate in between the misadventures!
    Only phalaenopsis.

Sorry to see the damage Liz. Difficult to teach a cat to leave well alone - all you can do is remove them from reach. Wonder what sparked his interestafter all this time.

Oh, sorry, Liz, just saw this after my trauma yesterday/this morning.

[IMG] [IMG] Tatty cat! Put that paw out for a slap!

On the other hand, mine aren't interested in my Cymbidium (perhaps a blessing) but somehow my bud stalks (very garden tech talk there) died off and now I have lots of new shoots so I don't know what mine will do, if anything! [IMG]
