I've just started digging over to break up the soil for my lawn, ready to level it off, and discovered that i'm digging down to yet another layer of slabs (the third one!) - BUT - i'm not sure if this is protecting a sewer line... there's an inspection point in our garden that has running water (i'm guessing this means it's live?) and where i've dug is about 6 foot to the left of it, in a direct line - i've come back about a foot from where i'm digging and there's still slabs there. any help greatly appreciated - or even info of where to find the map of where the sewer line goes!

Hi cc, if the property is yours it should be on your deeds I think.. If it is rented the local council or Housing association may know..
You could lift the manhole cover & see where the pipe runs go... Be careful if you do that.. Sometimes they are very heavy...

If the Water Board manages the sewers then you should be able to contact them and find out where it runs from and to, they may send you a copy of the map. Other than that contact whoever holds the deeds to your house, like Marley has said and they should be able to help.

I have a mains sewer running through my property, it is 4ft plus underground, with an inspection manhole.

I must say I have kept and updated a log on my property, of things of importance, should anyone purchase my property (from my kids) when I have crossed the Bar

As in, next door (HAD/HAVE) The main drain access and sewer access, but he had it mono-blocked over, my other neighbouring property (Had/Have) the Gas and electric and water mains access, again mono-blocked over

It is of course mainly for MYSELF as I do not want them digging up my drive, to find access, when I can tell them exactly where the access is Selfish Git

I don't think you're being selfish Jack. I have got all three mains running through my property and the better for knowing exactly where they are. If any major digging has to be done, it's better to be safe than sorry! :)
