Last year was my first year of GYO - and I am hooked. I started late and started slow, but once a few things germinated and started to grow, so did my confidence.

One thing I did sow was purple sprouts. I planted them too late I think but forever the optimist!

At the end of the autumn when I was emptying pots and digging over raised beds I decided to leave these as firstly they were quite pretty and secondly, like the butternut squash and aubergine, I was curious to see what the plant looked like even if it produced nothing.

I am now preparing the general area for planting out in a few weeks and preparing pots ready and wonder what to do with this.

Is something still going to grow? Or is it just foliage? If I 'get rid' can it go in my compost heap?

    Thanks in advance.

    Gorgeous colour. WP_20160330_001.jpg WP_20160330_002.jpg WP_20160330_003.jpg WP_20160330_004.jpg WP_20160330_005.jpg WP_20160330_006.jpg

Its flowering, and will produce yellow flowers.
Its past it, you should have eaten the shoots when they were smaller tight buds;)

Best put on the compost now, although the actual roots might be a bit woody and best burnt or disposed of in a wheelie bin.
