I've been given 6 plugs of stocks by my local greengrocer who just wanted rid of them before closing up for Xmas.

The thing is... they were meant to planted out by mid-September at the latest. So what do I do with them? They look pretty healthy so should I risk planting them now or put them in bigger pots and keep them on the windowsill until the weather warms up?

I have no idea what they are, TBH. But I think you're right. Its' very wet out there so I will pot them on. Will they be ok in a heated room, do you think? They are on a south-facing windowsill so will get plenty of light.

Ideally somewhere frost free but not to warm, they may go at bit leggy inside. If they been in the house /kept inside they be better being left inside for now, they get a shock going out. A cold gh or cold frame will do otherwise or in a sheltered area against the shed / house will also do.

Pot them on and leave outside in a sheltered spot LauraRoslin. They are hardy, happy in the cold and prob wont enjoy a windowsill. Although tough, cover with fleece during severe weather or place in open coldframe :)
(Mine were sown last spring, pricked out into trays, moved into the veg patch in summer and moved into final positions in autumn. Some are already flowering and others soon will be)

Ok, I'll do that. I did wonder if they would struggle in a heated room. My garden is quite sheltered and the weather isn't very cold here. I'll see what the weather is like for the next week and bring them in if we are getting a frost.

@Perki I got them yesterday so hopefully they aren't too used to the warm! I'll put them out tonight if there's no frost.

Typing on my phone takes ages. I would of thought they are biennial stocks selling them at this time of the year.
