As my strawberry plants seem to be coming to the end I was not sure what to do now.Last year I just left them and in the spring picked off all the dead leaves and removed what weeds there were and did that every couple of weeks just keeping them tidy.I did hear you can cut them down to ground level and they will grow again.Any advice appreciated.

Don't cut them down, keep looking after them and they will give you another crop next year. If they send out runners then you can use these to increase your stock.

The leaves are the plants solar panels, manufacturing nutrients for the plant to grow stronger and last over the winter. Leave 'em on. Cheers, Tony.

Will do the same as last year then just trim off the dead leaves and tidy up the patch.I had a good crop this year and this was only the plants second year as they were planted in spring 2015

I agree, keep treating them like you would a normal healthy plant.

Put all the runners you can find into little pots and wait for them to root and then cut them from the parent plant. I had 1 plant last year, potted 7 runners and this year I had 8 healthy plants pumping out loads of strawberries.

I am going to do the same this year with the runners and give the plants away to friends and family as well as increase my stock. I just love going out every morning and picking 4 or 5 strawberries for several weeks straight.
