Hallo! Sorry if this is a really dumb question...I don't know much about plants and gardening. I have 3 lovely window boxes, which I've only just started looking after. I planted loads of little daffodil bulbs which came up a treat this spring. The flowers have all gone now, and I'm left with loads of green 'leaves'. What do I do with these? It just looks like a mass of vegetation at the moment, and I'd like to go to the garden centre and get some flowers to plant in the boxes now. Thank you.
no such thing as a dumb question here!! ideally you are supposed to let the greenery die down naturally, its the bulbs way of re-energising itself for flowering next year but given your limited space and desire to have 'pretty' throughout the summer, you could either:- lift the bulbs and some of the soil, put them in a cheap plant pot out of the way and let them die down and replace the soil with fresh, along with your choice of flowers. or, lift the bulbs, bin them and replant with whatever you choose. (bulbs aren't that expensive to buy fresh each year) or, plant around the bulbs, trying to disguise the bulb leaves. hope that helps, welcome to the forum btw!!
