Ok so my tomatoes and cucumbers are coming to an end as are my window box spring onions and salad leaves, my broccoli are growing nicely and I am hoping for some crops early next year (so my FIL advises me!)

My question is - what now? :help:

We have an empty bed where the potatoes were and one which had (failed) carrots and beets and soon the greenhouse will be bare, what should we be planting/sowing now as we just have NO clue!!

I'm going to put in some garlic soon, but that won't fill up much of the space.

it might be too late to sow some but how about buying some winter veg plants, winter salad, winter onions. I was thinking the same thing so going to have a visit to the garden centre to see what's available.

I'm getting ready to put some broad beans out - some you can put out now for a very early crop next year.... here's hoping :)

Mind you - some I'm leaving indoors - just in case !!

Brian, do you mean sowing some broad bean seed or are you putting out plants?

I'm only doing garlic at the moment as I'm using the veggie beds for overwintering my biennials.

    Hello John,

at the moment, I've 20 seeds in pots under glass next to the house - bit warmer than a greenhouse.

Newly constructed raised bed is ready for them - at the moment thinking I will plant out 10-15 when they are , and then sew some more, and see how it goes.

of the ones I plant out - I'm going to put plastic bottle cloches on as many as I have cloches for.

I'm not planning on sewing seeds into the ground now - it feels too cold for them.

I've not done broad beans nor veg at this time of year - so mixing things up.

The type I'm using (Aquadulce) are for sewing at this time of the year through to January.

    Brian

I would, I tend to get most of the common ones, suttons, t&m. they can all be requested online. and you don't have to order from them, my local garden centre stocks 2 of the main ones seeds so a walk saves on postage :)
