I have been enjoying a lot of home grown this year, well worth the effort. But now looking at the bare earth where my spuds and celery used to be I'm thinking surely the area could be utilized to grow something? It's not a massive area, 9'x9' maybe. Any ideas?

    A salad crop maybe?

I would suggest leeks but you'd need leek plants.

You may get away with radishes and fast growing lettuce, maybe even some pak choi, the latter would be pushing it maybe depending on where you are in North Wales?

Wales must be full of leek plants? ask about if anyone's got some going spare?

Ive just started some more spring cabbage off..caterpillars munched my last seedlings off!
I keep sowing differant lettuces but im keeping them here in the garden, easier to keep a check on at this time of the yr.
Swiss chard, kale, broccoli, japanese onions... also turnips and carrots but that might be pushing it :dunno: future weather depending i suppose.

Potatoes for Christmas, plenty of threads about this if you use the search function (top right).

Hi all, well so far I have Japanese onions, spring cabbage and Christmas potato's in the ground.
I'm pretty confidant about the spuds. But the cabbage and onions maybe under threat from bug attack so I've put them under a cloche.

I put my spuds in on the weekend, should've done it a few weeks ago probably. Time will tell I guess.
