What To Put Under My Squash...

    So they are not sitting on the soil? Someone suggested I use hay, others bark and some Plastic chip???(never heard of that one) Any advice would be great.

    I don't know anything about squash but what about some of the weed membrane stuff? I know you can use straw with strawberries to stop them rotting so perhaps the membrane would work?

    Use anything you have to hand, I use a piece of wood or old ceramic tile. It's just to raise them off the soil to keep them dry and limit damage from slugs etc.

    OOh I want to try and grow butternut squash next year, is that what you have? are they easy? Any useful tips?

    I've got pumpkins and butternut squash and growing them to this point from seed was quite easy, from what I have heard the next bit is the hardest, but this is my first year so not expecting anything fantastic :). watch this space though because if I do manage to grow a squash I will be posting many pictures :p

    I use upturned plastic seed trays - ones with drain holes are best.

    We use pieces of wood but must say that Dave W's idea sounds like a good tip.
