Solved What type of fruit please? - Crataegus sp.

The trees and hedgerows are groaning with fruit at the moment but I have no idea what this?

It looks like Hawthorn ( also known as May Tree or May Flower ) to me.

 

Yep, Hawthorn.

They're ripening very early this year, noticed some at the weekend.

 

I'm not sure, I know Hawthorn as we had it in our garden as a child, these berries and the leaves are twice the size ? They are about the size of a blackberry or small grape.

 

I went back and compared Hawthorn to the mystery tree, does this help?

 

It is definitely Crataegus sp.
Just not common Hawthorn..Crataegus monogyna.

The leaf shape also looks different.
Your new pics show the shape more clearly.
