Apologies for the confused title, I always get mixed up between Primula, Primrose and Polyanthus. :)

Far left side of the following page, the blue flowers with a yellow heart and white edges to each petal.

Does anyone know which variety this is? I'd love to grow (or buy) some for my garden. They look lovely. :)

    Hi MadHedger,

Sorry can't help on naming it but I would say it's a Primrose.

I can help you on the names though........

Primula = The family name ( for instance " Iris " which not only contains the many different forms of Iris but also Freesias, Sparaxis, Ixias etc.

Primrose = a small flowered type which has one flower on each stem coming straight out of the crown of the plant.

Polyanthus = this has many flowers on top of a thick stem coming out of the crown of the plant. More often than not each plant produces more than one stem.

PS.... There are many more different types of Primula as well as these two.

I would have posted an image but I couldn't see a way to directly link to that particular image as it's on pinterest.com - I also tried googling but haven't found that particular variety elsewhere.

If it helps it's a primrose with rich blue flowers, each petal bordered in white. The heart of the flower is yellow.

Edit: a bit of copying and pasting later and here it is (click for a larger image):

Trouble is that there are a lot of unnamed ones about. They are usually sold as mixed coloured seed.

I see, thanks. Why are there so many unnamed ones?
