My youngest decided he wanted to grow something from seed yesterday so off we went to the greenhouse to plant some Mustard, Cress and Alfalfa seeds. I tried to remember the first seeds I planted when I was a youngster and I think it was Sunflower. Does anyone else remember what were the first seeds they planted ? [IMG]

I can!.....Spuds  I was only 5 or 6 and had to follow along after Grandad had filled the trench with cow muck and push each spud deep into the stuff. [IMG] At the time I hated the job and sad to say that feeling has stayed with me,that's why I don't grow my own!

    Beware of crop circles!

(PTerry fans will know - for the rest of the multiverse read on!

It's a hot Midsummer Night. The crop circles are turning up everywhere -- even on the mustard-and-cress of Pewsey Ogg, aged four. And Magrat Garlick, witch, is going to be married in the morning... Everything ought to be going like a dream.

But the Lancre All-Comers Morris Team have got drunk on a fairy mound and the elves have come back, bringing all those things _traditionally_ associated with the magical, glittering realm of Faerie: cruelty, kidnapping, malice and evil, evil murder.[*] Granny Weatherwax and her tiny argumentative coven have _really_ got their work cut out this time...

With full supporting cast of dwarfs, wizards, trolls, Morris Dancers and one orang-utan. And lots of hey-nonny-nonny and blood all over the place.

[*] But with tons of _style_.

We had to grow an onion in a jar of water at school. We placed a large onion on top of the jar of water and then watched it grow roots and leaves.I couldn't tell you what we were supposed to learn from it,but I think it was something every one did at the time :D

Peas in a jam jar lined with blotting paper with half inch of water in the bottom. The peas were placed between the paper and the glass so we could watch them germinate. The we had to write a composition (essay today!) on how it had grown!

I remember growing cress in egg shells when I was in nursery. Many a moon ago that was. Think I might do it with my little one too as they are such fun.
