What will i be doing over xmas ?
I'll be having a quiet one, i think it's a pretty awful time of year - everything's had the price hiked, people carry on like there's a world shortage of everything and it's just a horrid commercial time.

On xmas eve i'll spend a couple of hours with my parents but then it's spent at home where i can relax until the 3rd of January when some form of normality returns to the world.
        No big event here !

I sound a really b***dy misery but i'm actually not, i just think there are far better ways to spend a couple of days off !

Just had a chat with a friend who has been through a horrible time recently but will nonetheless be cooking Christmas dinner for her recently bereaved mum and her nan, who is ninety, batty and spiteful. Nan can't really help being nasty, but that doesn't make things any easier. I think lots of people go through similar problems at Christmas.

I'm going to have a jolly Christmas day with my sister, and then I'm going to bolt the door until the whole thing is done and dusted.

We will be spending Christmas Day with our friends as last year ... at a Chinese having crispy duck pancakes with all the trimmings. They are Jewish and we are ex-Catholic but we all love this meal .. and have it at Easter as well! :yess:

I would like to wish you Folly Mon, catztail, Louise and Claire a wonderful day however you spend it. xx

                Hi.

For the first time, this year I'm actually looking forward to Christmas. Being something of a miserable old git, I normally just look forward to having the time off. But this year for the first time, my Daughter and her family (partner and 3 kids) are coming round for dinner. Because of the way things work out with my wifes work (she works 4 on 4 off) this will be the first Christmas day that she's been at home for 7 years. Proper job :)

Folly Mon, I think it takes a lot of courage to come on here and say the things you have, and you are to be congratulated on your efforts, well done :thumb:

                Cheers...Freddy.

This Christmas day will be a quiet one here,Mrs Pal and I are 'home alone'.....for the first time since we met 40 years ago. Past years saw us at each others parents homes, with friends, Families and of course here with our own children.
So It'll be a lie in,breakfast in bed for the good wife, then a walk around the Estate:heehee: before a Traditional meal washed down with a bottle of the finest grape juice.
It's going to be strange not playing Chess or Scrabble with my darling daughter after lunch though!:(Ah well....mustn't moan....by then I'll be playing with that Camera:yess:
Merry Christmas everyone, whatever you are doing:)

As I will be working late most of this week. Come the weekend I will look forward to rest. Good thing I can, since it will be just my husband, and his brother stopping by any myself. Still considering the menu, will keep it easy but special. Will get more wine. Have a few gifts to unwrap. Will get a few munchies ahead, already made from a food speciality store. And that is that.

come rain, snow or sunshine ..... it will be a traditional south african BBQ (as I do every year)

was planning to do a duck this year, but the kids are having mates around for lunch, and some have already hinted they don't/won't eat duck, so most probably will do a leg of lamb

served with whatever the wife cooks (roast potatoes, vegs etc)

plenty of good wine, beers, .... and have 4 bottles of whisky (so far) as christmas presents from clients ... plus a few bottles of good wine (won't even try drinking them all on christmas day and should last me till the 2nd week of Jan!) .... (wife thinks it's enough till easter?

may crack open the bottle of Johnnie walker blue on christmas day .... set up the hifi, get mellow.... and p*ss the neighbours off (as I do every christmas and new years day)

and will pour a few baileys for the wife (she seldom drinks but enjoys baileys from time to time) .... then take 'advantage' of her

:) What a lovely thread this has become, hearing what we all do, which is quite different ... :yess:

Off now to have our Fritata (Portuguese equivalent of a Spanish omelette) ... then the Mincemeat Pinwheels go in the oven ... I can almost smell them now ...
