What will you do to your greenhouse this winter!!!

Thought it might be worth starting a thread on this as I am so undecided what to do. pete your input would be particularly interesting as you grow cactus & lithops and so many other varied plants and they all look really healthy. Will you heat it insulate it or both? Is large bubble better than small bubble, how will you fix it inside? I hope lots of people reply as personally I would find this very very interesting. Thank you in advance!!!

I'm going to fill mine with seedling perennials to try to give them a head start for next year. I'm also thinking of growing spuds in large containers and putting them in there towards the end of the year, to see if I can get the latest/earliest spud crop ever.

 

I bubblewrapped ours in oct last yr with large bubbles,bought 45mtr roll which was ample for a 8x6ft greenhouse it cost about £25
i shall be once again putting my 30 or so young bottlebrush in there, a few tropical types ive bought for a design patch next yr,roses i grown from seed,gazaniasimight try a tub of spuds aswell now clueless has mentioned it x

 

joolz did you take this off in the Spring or do you leave it on all the time? I think I would be tempted to just leave it on!!

I've never had the time or inclination to remove everything in order to put in bubble wrap.
My main greenhouse does have one whole side and roof glazed with twin wall polycarbonate, but the other side is just glass.
I heat it with a 2KW fan heater, its 14ft long but only 6ft wide.

I have another on the allotment which gets a bit of jiffy foam put around the lower parts between the plants and the glass, up to about 3ft high.
This one has my larger cacti in it and gets a paraffin heater lit if its likely to go below -2C.
I also have the conservatory which has an absolute min of 10C rising to 20C even on the coldest days, but the trouble is people like to sit in there so I dont have much room for plants.
Back porch, unheated but being attached to the house it never gets tooo cold, but can get draughty. Good place for the Lithops
