    Hello,

I have two cactus type plants in our bathroom, I think one might be dying and the other has sprouted a single stem which is reaching for the stars.
Any ideas on what I need to do to both please?

    Thanks

Hi its grown so long as it needs more day light it will have either orange or yellow flowers

the other one with brown tips has been left too dry for long so the ends have dried up ,,, but its one plant that doesnt like to be over watered so dont go crazy ... just make sure when you do water dont leave it with a soggy bottom

Oh right okay so do I just leave it then? If so will I need to give it some support? (by that I don't mean clapping and cheering as I watch it grow)

I wasn't even aware that these cactus type plants even flowered, always learning hey!

They are both on the bathroom window cill so I assumed they would cope similarly with the environment, I haven't watered either of them for ages as it regularly gets humid in the bathroom with people showering every day.

They need water in the summer months, humidity is not enough, even the odd feed now and then, nothing drastic.
I'd cut the flower spike off, I dont find them particularly interesting when they are struggling a bit for light.

Mine get turfed out into the greenhouse over the summer, where they get watered and fed until September, then they get dried off and then back inside to a bright windowsill over winter.

Boo! the butcher of Kent strikes again!
I'm with Nigel on this, outside for the summer, back in (if I remember) before the frosts

Mine stay in the greenhouse all winter and outside all summer. The flowers of some are not bad if grown outside.
I never really like them as house plants.

Oh okay then I'll put them both outside, will they need much watering though since we get plenty of rain here in North Wales?

Also can anyone tell me the names of each plant please?

                    My guess would be Haworthia?
Outside in a partly sunny position, dont forget they will not really be used to the direct sunlight, if they start to turn brown then they are getting too much and would benefit from a bit more shade.
Only water when dry, say once a week if no rain falls.

When mine go out to the greenhouse they get a week or so covered with fleece to reduce the light intensity, sun burn on a cactus looks horrible.
