It's just starting to come out and a lot of the flowers are looking shrivelled. On closer inspection, I see that each tube has a tiny hole in it and poking out of some are these little white caterpillars! When the flower opens, the stamen is covered in brown grainy stuff and most of the tubes are falling off without opening.
Any thoughts on what it is and how to treat it?
We're moving out of this house (to get a bigger garden-yay!) so if it's a gonner for this year, I'm not really fussed-lol!

    Here you go
    The plant generally
    [IMG]
    The holes
    [IMG]
A fly which might just be a red herring?
The grainy stuff on the stamens (this is soft and gooey if I pull open a 'bud' tube)
    The caterpillar making the holes
    [IMG]
I have some general bug killer-prov something? Don't want to use that if I can avoid it though, looks v. nasty and I can't be bothered with the hassle of keeping the cats in!
    Thanks for any tips :)
