Hi, i pricked out my chilli seedlings the other day and now one by one are dying and i dont know why. I thought it might be transplant shock and to keep an eye on them hoping they would perk up but they are getting worse and about to die. They have started curling and having brown marks on. I was really careful when transplating but i think they have had it.

Any ideas what i did wrong did i give them to much sun?

Could be too much sun - I tend to keep mine away from direct sun for a couple of days after pricking out until the pick themselves up again; also bear in mind that the larger pot will have a lot more moisture than a wee seedling can handle, so make sure they are not over watered.

The seedlings look very small Natty . As a general rule I transplant seedlings when the second set of true leaves are forming . In the case of Chillies this would be about 4 weeks after sowing. When did you sow your chillies?

They are very delicate at that stage, it's easy to squash the seed leaves. As Harry says if you wait till the true leaves are coming they stand a better chance.

I started them on the 18th Jan. They had their true leaves and some more were coming through. But they look small cause they have shrivelled up. I dont know if you can ser from pic the other two at the moment look ok. I know its abit late but do you think i should chuck these and start again?

I started mine on the 25th Jan, they are now 9" tall and are flowering . Are you keeping them warm with plenty light ? They can't be kept outside for a long time yet . Something is very wrong
I'd start again or buy some seedlings from a GC , chillies are pretty cheap about £1 each

They have taken ages to grow they have been in a heated propagator with fairly good light. I would get from a gc but they dont sell very hot chillis as these were choc naga and caroline reeper seeds.
I guess im going to have to start again.

To my eyes the potting mix looks a little heavy. Start again and use a free draining mix (add some sand) when potting on. It gives them a better chance of surviving root trauma when you pot them on. I always soak my seed and germinate them in moist paper towel to avoid that problem.
