I mostly go for foliage but have a number of plants in flower at the moment. I think we should start a Rose directory?

Great pics BM but I am still not sure i could live with a blue rose........or red daffodil/delphinium etc

Pete the cones are great, this is terrible, but I found a korean Fir behind a big budlea and red lonicera, we have hacked them back to give the poor Fir a chance AND I have also found some huge erremerus smothered in amongst it all which I don't know what to do about trying to move.

Great picture of the Korean Fir Pete.We had a brilliant 15 year old one in our last garden,so left it for the new owners.Guess what. They dug it up and dumped it.I could have cried.

We have planted a new one in this garden. but as yet it hasn't took off.I live in hope.

I grew mine from seed, I'm not sure how old it is but its slow growing.
Mine took a few years to cone, now it tends to do it every other year for some reason.
Missed a pic of the male flowers which are unusual. :(
Kandyfloss, thats one reason why I haven't moved in years, there was a house around here that changed hands recently and the new owners immediatly cut down a large beautiful shaped cordyline, then parked a caravan on the spot.
Korean Fir is reasonably slow growing, although not a dwarf, I wouldn't prune unless really necesary it would spoil the conical shape.

Not really sure now mims, is your from seed, I presume it takes longer that way.
I think it was about four to five foot high when it first coned, sunny spot helps I think.
A friend of mine grew one from seed at the same time as me and it just kept going, reached 10ft and still no cones, I think he cut it down in the end and gave up. So its variable from seed, but a GC bought plant should be more reliable. [IMG]

roders this is so funny, I took this one on my road side this evening, then read your post - I mean how am I supposed to know, I don't even know plants in my own garden I am so hopeless! I do know however that this picture is not rosa de l'hay, even though it does look like it.

Just so funny we both did same thing at same time!
