The pink and yellow Jasmines are opening on the kitchen patio but the pink/white is not very effective against a white wall ...

A new shrub for me, the fascinating Grevillea juniperina or Spider Shrub now coming into bloom, can't wait till all the buds are open ...

The lovely flowers of the Polygala myrifolia ...

And the delicate Cercis siliquastrum (Judas Tree also called the Tree of Love), one of my favourites planted in memory of one of my cats ...

Lovely LoL - I do like that Grevillea. When does your spring start, ie when do you really start to see things flowering? and when is your peak season - the equivalent of say August in the UK. I am slightly disoriented with your seasons, which I presume are not the same as ours.

Those are truly lovely, rosa ... pretty enough for you to paint. [IMG]

I know you really love it, imp. [IMG]

Thanks strongy ... what do you plan to do with the trio?

Hello Peter. I just love this Grevillea ... pete has one. I just cannot believe how many buds are on it and they are opening fast and furiously ... I shall take another picture whilst in full bloom (tomorrow perhaps :D ).

As to our seasons. Spring and Autumn are very short. I guess Spring is sort of end February/April when we are still having our rain (should we be lucky to get it) and things are warming up. Although we've had a lot of rain lately, we've also been warmer than normal for this time of year with temps topping 20. June-October is Summer when we get virtually no rain. Then there is a brief Autumn leading into winter. December/January/February can be cold, ie, ground frost can occur but it soon burns off with the sun. With over 300 days of sunshine per year, we are the sunniest in Europe and have more hours of sunshine than California with up to 12 hours per day ... not bad for being on the Atlantic! :D

Not sure I can say we have a "peak" season for flowering as some plants and shrubs bloom almost year-round, such as Verbena. Things are quite different as well for the likes of Freesias which bloom in the Autumn there but are currently blooming here ... their natural time to bloom. The Carnations are full of buds so will be open shortly. As my two favourite flowers, I love this time of year ... I always have bunches of them scenting the house. [IMG]

Grow them on for a few years, then I'll decide what to do with them. ;)

Love ladybirds, shiney, occasionally see them here. [IMG]

A few weeks ago I was given a free plant, a Ranunculus, at the bedding plant place I go to. It was just in bud so I had no idea what colour it would be but what a beauty it is ...

I've tried Googling to find out the name with no success ... any ideas?

Kandy, I don't remember planting ours so I think they were brought in by the birds. Of course, it could be that I am having a 'senior moment'. [IMG] :D
