This is a blue-flowering Wandering Jew. Have never seen this colour before.

This Malva is actually a very dusky red, almost the same colour as the leaves -

There are two of these huge Yuccas and today I noticed that they have these long flower stalks on them. Don't know how I could have missed them till now, unless they grew overnight.

Kedi, your 'Yucca' is Draceana Fragrans Massangeana, often used in office displays here.

I haven't seen a blue Trad like yours, the leaves looks like the indoor types we have here but the flower colour looks like the hardy one. I presume it is outside in Florida?

    Vicky, your Bougies are stunning:gnthb:
I brought a couple of orange cuttings back from Madeira (now rooted and growing) but I don't think they will ever flower like yours.

Strongy, in the background of my white Bougie you can just .. only just because I cropped the pic ... see a dark orange one which I have. I also have a light orange one. Hope yours takes.

In the mid/late 80s when I worked for the diamond mine in West Africa the Accountant was from Sri Lanka and he said that most of the Bougies there were orange or yellow and he was really surprised at the colours of the ones we have here. Isn't life strange?

PS My variegated Trad has been outside here for years and I'm sure mine is blue ... have to wait till Spring here as Sis is milder than me ... :hehe:

Vicky - I love that Plumbago - its such a beautiful blue.

I bought one a couple of years ago - full of flower. I thought I would be very clever and give it to my neighbour - to make her happy and then I could take a cutting, which would make me happy. But it died long before I could take the cutting. :D

However I see Chiltern are selling the seed - so its on my list. - thanks for the prompt.

Hiya Peter, I was just about to shut down.

Do you know how to get seed from Plumbago ???? Me being me I haven't a clue? :dh: I'll send you some cuttings as this intense coloured 'Royal Cape' is not that common and so 'jump in your face' ... a Christmas pressie xxx ... but may be a no go-er .... :flag:

Vicky - you are so kind. Yes I would love a bit. But I feel so guilty - that I can't send you anything in return. I am sitting on loads of seeds ... but that's really not your thing. I would be very happy with some seed - which is much easier to send than a cutting, but I have no idea how or when it appears. But I am sure it does - just by itself. :D

In the UK, I gather it flowers in the late summer - so it could be coming up to seed time soon.

Vicky, did you know Bougies never set seed outside the Tropics!

    I must try Plumbago again.:)

Very nice plants Vicky and Kedy, quite a collection of exotics really, and your mahonia looks good roders.
I think if I were you PeterS I'd go for a cutting of the Plumbago, seed would be very variable I think.

    Here is my contribution.
    Hedychium ellipticum.

No, Strongy, I did not know that about Bougies .... I have such a problem getting them to 'find their feet' once planted a shrub one meter tall, I'd dread to think of the disasters I would have with seeds. :lollol:

Lovely Mahonia roders quite eyecatching and pete that is such a beautiful bloom ... they don't seem to like the dry heat here. :(

And more stunning blooms from you Sis ... I shall have to look them up to see if they would do well here.

Anne - those Ixoras are beautiful - I had to Google them and found a site with them and all sorts of other loverly tender beauties. One thing just leads onto 100 others! I love it.

Thanks for the ID, Strongy. I took some more pics to show the open flowers.

What a fantastic Mahonia, Roders. :gnthb: We have some at home but they just get the usual fat cluster of flowers.

Your Hedichium is so elegant, Pete.

You know how I love your Tecomaria, Sis, and the Plumbago is a gorgeous colour.

Thanks, Peter, the Ixoras are beautiful - and the garden is choc-full of them! They are not tender here, they are used everywhere and are quite run-of-the-mill plants. :hehe: What good link did you find?
