Lovely arbutus @Zigs! Is it A. unedo or arachnoides? Does it have peeling bark?

Bark certainly has its own attraction. Especially a congregation of Jacquemontii
It's difficult to see this properly until you change the way you focus on it The stem has those tiny white hair like prickles but the dark patches are giant thorns.
Frost has got to some dahlias Whilst others are still thriving in sheltered positions
The south facing side of our larger Katsura And the north facing side.
