There is still plenty of colour in the garden helped by our Indian summer.

My Red Hot Pokers have only just flowered - I am sure they should have been earlier.

Two of my long flowering favorites. In the background Centranthus rubra (Red Valerian). It flowered all May and June. In early July it was going over so I cut it back to half height and by the end of August it was back in flower again continuing till today. In the foreground in Aster fricatii 'Monch'. This has to be the best of all the Asters. It's free from mildew, and flowers for twice as long as any other Aster, starting in early July.

Another Aster. This is A amellus 'Violet Queen'. It is a European Aster, which is relatively drought tolerant and also doesn't suffer from Mildew. But its greatest asset is a deep violet colour that the camera can't really catch.

This is an unusual perennial - Lepechinia hastata. Its a long flowering relative of Salvia, with the most intense smelling leaves of any plant I have ever come across. One leaf would disinfect an entire hospital!

Another first timer for me - Fuchsia arborescens (tree Fuchsia), with very un-Fuchsia like flowers. Its tender, and I understand that it grows up to about 15 feet. So I am not quite sure how I am going to overwinter it in the future. But it is worth persevering with as it apparently can stay in flower for virtually 12 months of the year - if it is warm enough.

Yes they are definately looking good YDD :) I am new to Dahlias this year but definately going to get some more next year as I think they are just lovely and mine flowered all summer long, still flowering now!!

I brought all the taller versions, so going to have a look at the shorter ones aswell for next year, to save having to stake and tie everything !
