    I must have planted 20 or so sunflowers of different sizes & types this year - the only one which has survived the slugs this year has just come into flower - its about 10' tall & the runner beans are using it as a climbing frame..

      That is fab!!!

      Old fashioned gardeners would plant runner beans beside Sunflowers for just that very reason :blue thumb:

      I scattered seeds from my GW mag free "Russian Giants" from last year and I was fortunate enough to get a plethora of sunflowers this year, but only one which was a true RG.

      Now though, they are all nodding groundward and I am leaving them for the wildlife to enjoy/thrive on.

      Yours look glorious!!!

        Thanks Jenny, glad you like them. The Loosestrife has a really strident colour this year and has obviously liked the strange Summer we've had.

        I'm getting there, Sheal, with the new camera. I'm only shooting in Jpeg format at the moment as I haven't yet got the software I will need when I start shooting in RAW format. If I make a mistake with a shot it's my fault and not the camera's:heehee: But, yes, it is living up to expectations and the only thing limiting it is me.:coffee:

            Lovely pics, longk:snork: I think the "unknown" Clematis might be "Contessa de Bourchard" as I have one, but I'm not sure.....never like trying to i.d. varieties due to camera colour interpretation.:dunno::snork:

                    The light was perfect yesterday for a few photos, especially against a blue sky;

                    Perennial Sunflower, standing at around 7-8ft tall and a mass of bright yellow flowers which are in turn attracting hundreds of hoverflies and bees :);

                    Brugmansia, smelling lovely and about to have 5 flowers at once;
