Maybe it’s too scared to grow any bigger @simone_in_wiltshire , you must have looked very stern when you pruned it :nonofinger:

Just looking back at your query @simone_in_wiltshire , and I'm surprised you've had problems with pruning it. They're pretty sturdy shrubs in that regard. They do prefer heftier soil, that has a reasonable amount of nutrition, but other than that, most of them should come back quite readily -even from a hard prune.
Is it the same variety as Sheal's one? Perhaps it needs a bit of extra nutrition - more material for the soil, rather than artificial feeding.

Indeed Butterfly6. I simply pruned it wrong and it no longer grows but comes back healthy and full of flowers year by year.
Admittedly, I killed the rose with my pruning inside three years.
The only prune technique I can do is cut it off or leave it on.

Quote from @simone_in_wiltshire's post from last month's thread...

My Weigela was bought in 2020 and found it first place in a pot, which it liked very much. The label said, prune in Autumn and I did by cutting it half way. As mentioned before, I'm poor in pruning.
Since then, it hasn't grown in height but generates happy leaves and flowers year by year. I only wonder why it's not bigger. Even new grow remains in the same height.
The label said 75 cm, and it remains at about 40 cm since I pruned it.

Is your plant still in a pot? If it is then it's possible it won't put on a lot of height. 'Rubidor' can grow up to 8ft - 2 1/2 metres.

Hello Sheal, no, it's in the ground (clay). I took it out from the pot in 2022 in Autumn, when I got rid of most of the pots after the awful drought.
I found it's name in my system: Weigela All Summer Red.
It looks like I have to wait. It gets between 0.5 and 1 meter in 10 to 20 years.
I had a second look today and thought I leave it as it is, but will mulch it in Spring time.
This is my old bed and the Weigela is on the left top side.

Strangely I've recently recommended Weigela 'All Summer Red' to my daughter-in-law. She wants something low growing in a border below her house windows. It is a pretty plant. :)

They are low growing so any pruning should be minimal, just tidying up to maintain its shape. It's a long time since I gardened on clay so can't advise on how well it will grow regarding that.

Can you provide us with a picture of it please? That would help regarding advice on any future pruning.

These ladybird nymphs are on absolutely everything. Including me, usually found shortly after I've settled down with a cup of tea.

Frog in its favourite patch, hopefully eating all the slugs that might be eyeing up the nearby ground-hugging Campanula. :)

Here it is. I took it in proportion of the surrounding shrubs.
I was thinking about taking it out, clearing the surrounding area from Spring bulbs (the Camassia come back again and again), then mulch it and replant it.
