Good... Or worrying? My galanthus that normally flower mid Jan are already starting to show growth. IMG_20241031_100322036.jpg

Slightly different, as it's not an outdoor pic, but it's the pleasing reminder of remnants of the remaining summer flowers...until next year...

@CarolineL - I've got little buds appearing at the base of my white peony which is just ludicrous. I may have to add some dry material over them if the temps/weather changes - which it will.
I have to keep them slightly proud of the ground, rather than an inch or so below ground level, to avoid them getting too wet at the base.

I wouldn't worry about those snowdrops though - they'll slow down if it turns colder, and are tough as old boots. Daffs often do the same - I have some in a pot that are showing a little bit.

My Cosmos and Gloriosa daisies are still going strong and no frosts forecast for the next ten days. Haven’t noticed any snowdrops nosing through yet but some Muscari are already several inches high.

Autumn colours seem to be particularly good this year

Salvia Amistad contrasting well with the fading leaves of Panicum Northwind.

A lovely Pot Alisa. A bit of trivia ... here in Portugal Chrysanths are for sale everywhere here now. in All Souls Day the cemetaries are full of folk visiting and there will be a flower seller at the entrances.

We once tried to learn about “dusting” by reading a book written by Quentin crisp; that got us nowhere fast! We’ve got a thing in the cellar which we were once told could “dust”, it’s called a vacuum-cleaner, but it’s so heavy we can’t get it up the stairs. We have a very clean cellar.
