What's the best way to keep the edges sharp, with the lawn creeping over patio

Is there a way I should push thr grass back and cut or what's the best way to keep the edges really sharp. I don't have a strimmer anymore but I do have shears

I use an edging iron but have also used a sharp kitchen knife.

We use an edging iron too.

 

We use one of these Half Moon Cutters where the grass meets the flag stones.

If its kept sharp it does cut some of the grass, though some grass is just pushed downwards, either way it does leave a clean looking edge.

Its not electric, just push it down by the handle or if the ground is a bit hard, you use your foot on that bent over top edge.

 

If you dont mind crawling around you can use a bricklaying trowel or something similar but the half moon edging iron is the easiest way, better than a strimmer anyway, IMO.

 

@JWK hmmm, when we saw and answered this thread at 8pm the main page was showing 0 replies and when we opened the thread there was only the OPs question.

Looking at the post again now there are several posts before ours including the OPs second entry with a picture ?? something going wrong somewhere ?

 

When first posted yesterday morning there were two identical threads, either a hiccup or accidental double post. One received some responses the other none until later in the day, this morning there only appears to be the one thread.

 

Presumably the mods have removed one or the original poster.
