I've never spent more than £15. Not always worth it for me as they often die. I prefer to buy young plants and grow them on. I
I suppose if I wanted a specific variety, I might spend more but I don't really plan my garden so I never want anything badly enough to spend a lot of money

It's coming back to me..... €80 on a silver pear, Pyrus salicifolia Pendula. I spent ages trying to track one down over here, and finally found one in a local GC. No price tag on it, so it's entirely possible that the boss made up the price on the spot, taking into account my accent and all  No choice of tree, there was just the one. Unlike many other shrubs and trees planted in the same border, it survived and seems quite happy :phew:
The ornamental trees in this garden are all either €60 purchases from various local nurseries (seemed to be the going rate in 2009) or raised from seed.

About 30 years ago I spent £60 on one Acer palmatum dissectum that I fell in love with but had nowhere for it to go. It was a 5ft stick with a few small branches.
I moved it a few times in the first year and eventually decided to plonk it in my front garden simply because there was no where else for it.
It faces due south and loves it.

Was it worth the investment - YES :)
Spring this year - the leaves are larger than I've ever seen them - probably due to an abundance of water

Daybreak had just happened and the early November light (in 2009) gave these colours-
I've done no enhancement to this pic

I can't think what would be. My most expensive plant, probably not more than £30 , most of my plants are grown from purchased cuttings or seed.

£240 on an olive tree and I think worth it as they grow so slowly

Probably around £30 (can't quite remember) on a Witchhazel some ten years or more ago.

About £120 on a two foot high tree fern, or rather trunk without fronds! Bearing in mind the distance it travelled, the delay in the Suez Canal at the time and the impact it makes in what was quite a miserable area, it was worth it!

I've spent quite a lot of plants I have a problem :heehee: , I am a bit of a sucker for rare and unusual plants.

Probably the most I've spent on one plant were for a Acer Winter flame a couple of years ago it come to around £130 , I don't regret spend so much but maybe the amount for the variety I picked , It lovely but I have to pamper it with it being a coral bark acer it seem susceptible to disease compared to other types .

Also bought a Cornus china dawn ( I adore Cornus trees ) late last year which were nearly £100 including P+P , I could of quite easily got a more common variety twice the size and half the price. My Aralia I got at weekend was very expensive for the size of the plant much smaller than the cornus / acer at £80, the aralia doesn't have a home yet and probably won't for 2-3 years but the when I do get it in the ground it will be worth vastly and saved me money/time in the long run.

They say you can't buy time but plants are one of the few thing where you can buy time

I think it was 70 Euros for a Bougainvilla bonsai with gorgeous pot.

Sadly the yellow and white graftings died and the purple is now in the ground, hopefully will bloom this year.

I have my Plumeria in the pot now, waiting for it to bloom.

£20 on a Robinia Twisty Baby. Apart from that, £10 for one plant, £8 for another, and everything else less than £8, with the vast majority under £5. :) I buy stuff when it's little.

Most expensive plant is David Austin The Country Parson in a pot which my daughter bought for my birthday last year. It is just about to flower so will tell you later if it was worth it - but anyway it wasn't my money!
Agree with @Victoria that I spend more on pots, especially when Whichford Pottery have special offers with free postage.
